MLK - A Day of Service

On Monday we gathered for our monthly meeting, and in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, we held a service day.  It's always great when we get together to sew, but especially so when in service of others.

After our meeting we went right to work, sorting and divvying up the tasks to be done. One project we worked on was to make toiletry kits for Womanspace.org.  This organization provides "help for women, men, and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence."  Everyone brought supplies to make a few each.  Washcloths were folded and sewn into pockets to hold the items donated.

The other project we worked on was to make receiving blankets for Children's Home Society.  We were blessed to receive a donation of quilt shop flannel from Bits n Pieces Quilt Shop!  We set right to work making these little beauties!
